David Derr, MBA, ProFM

David Derr is a Building Systems Engineer with the Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI). With more than 30 years of experience in the chemical manufacturing and petroleum refining sectors, Derr has held various positions including process designer, project engineer, project manager, maintenance manager, and engineering manager. In addition to experience in the construction and maintenance of industrial and commercial facilities, his areas of engineering expertise include pumps and piping, HVAC, and energy usage and conservation. In addition, Derr is a current member of the board of directors for the local public sewer authority. Past experience includes serving as the chairman of a local public water authority in the State College, Pennsylvania area. He is proficient in project financial analysis, feasibility study generation, construction management, and capital project execution. Derr holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering from Penn State and a Master of Business Administration from Murray State University. He is ProFM certified.
