Facility Infrastructure Fundamentals Training

This three-day course is designed for facility managers and maintenance specialists who may not have a technical background. FIFT invites participants to explore building systems and their complex interactions through lectures, interactive case studies, exhibits, experiments, and guided building tours. FIFT provides an overview of building systems that are often perceived to be the most complex. During this course we will explore mechanical systems, HVAC fundamentals, elevator systems, electrical fundamentals, and fire protection.

The goal of this course is to teach concepts in a way that will enable students to understand and speak the same language as the contractors and technicians who maintain their facilities. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded for 100 percent attendance and participation. Students completing the program will earn a certificate of completion. Penn State Facilities Engineering Institute (PSFEI) offers this class on an annual basis.
